Week 7: Ezbon Necklace

This week’s color focus is black: “black symbolizes judgment, fear of the Lord and mourning” (www.preciousstonesof thebible.com). I want to focus on fearing God. There are a couple of verses that really stood out this morning.

1)      Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction” (NASB).

2)      Psalm 145:19 “He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them” (NASB).

To me, fear represents respect, reverence and awe. I love the first verse noted above, I like that fear of God is associated with knowledge. An understanding of God and His goodness will increase your desire to learn more and reflect that knowledge in your daily life. If you are having a hard time understanding God’s word ask Him and He will help you (James 1:5). I found a quote that fits nicely with this topic.

“Learning is not attained by chance, it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence” (Abigail Adams).

Out of your fear, reverence and awe of the Lord, you will diligently seek His word. You have to make a point to get into the Word, and as you learn your life will reflect it. The second verse noted above says that God “will fulfill the desire of those that fear Him.” God’s love and wisdom is available to all who seek Him—you just have to look for Him!

Ezbon necklace: Waxed black cotton cord, black wooden beads and clear, faceted acrylic beads. Adjustable. The name Ezbon is a biblical name that means “hastening to understand” (babynology.com)…which I thought fit perfectly. I hope that you never look at the color black the same way again!
