“Everything that is new or uncommon raises a pleasure in the imagination, because it fills the soul with an agreeable surprise, gratifies its curiosity, and gives it an idea of which it was not before possessed.” Joseph Addison This so … Continue reading

Playful in Pink

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This necklace is inspired by J.Crew’s spring jewelry; specifically, their blooming bead pendant necklace: http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/jewelry/necklaces/PRDOVR~74442/74442.jsp.  I loved the beads in the middle of the chain. I decided to try it and voila, this playful statement necklace was created. I used aluminum chain, glass seed beads, glass crystals, shell & resin. I off-centered the pink crystals for a little playfulness and added a large shell and resin bauble for fun. You can’t help but feel happy in this necklace!

Week 5: Burgundy Gili Pendant and Earrings

This week’s color focus is red: “red symbolizes blood, salvation, redemption, sacrifice, fervent love, fire, courage and boldness” (www.preciousstonesof thebible.com). The only red I had to work with was in the burgundy tone, so after praying for direction, I decided to make a pendant to go along with the burgundy Gili earrings. This beautiful burgundy glass briolette reminds me of blood—not in the gory way, but in the life-changing Jesus way. Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (NAS). This verse resonates with me because sometimes I feel far off, but I know that I am not—I am saved through Jesus. The pendant and earrings can serve as a reminder of Jesus and His life-saving blood. The earrings measure approximately 2 ½ inches and the necklace measures 18 inches.
