Week 10: Paz Earrings

It has been a while! I have not forgotten—I have just been a little distracted. Now, on to the next color…brown: “brown symbolizes earthen vessels and humility” (www.preciousstonesof thebible.com). I have been avoiding this color and I don’t know why because I have a lot of gorgeous brown beads. I have been thinking about this Bible blog post for a while and knew that I still had more to post (two left after this one), but this time I knew exactly what beads I was going to use. I prayed about a design and these earrings are the result. I love that brown symbolizes humility. I don’t know about you, but humilityhumbleness… is something that I could use more of. I found this Bible verse on humility:

Proverbs 15:33 “The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom, and before honor comes humility (NASB).”

Honor comes after humility. To me, this means in order to be your best, you need to be humble. God’s Word instructs us to love each other. Ephesians 4:2with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love” (NASB). This is often hard to do, especially if someone rubs you the wrong way. I must make it a priority to be humble even when I don’t feel like it. I have made plenty of mistakes; however, focusing on God’s Word and taking one day at a time helps me. I am thankful that I can depend on His strength and not my own.

Paz is Spanish for “peace” (babynames.com). I thought that this was an appropriate name for these earrings since they symbolize humility. The earrings measure just shy of 3” in total length.

Trapeze Earrings

Bev & I had fun today being creative with jewelry making and our time. She picked out beads for the trapeze earrings while I worked on special orders. We are team working in order to get ready for the jewelry party.  I just finished putting the trapeze earrings together and here they are:

Freshwater Pearl Earrings

I had these cute teardrop shaped findings for earrings {thanks Amy!} and could not resist wire-wrapping pearls to go on them. I wanted to create something pretty and elegant, earrings that could be dressed up or down.

Here is what the they looked like prior to putting the ear wires on. I thought about adding more pearls, but decided against it after leaving them alone for a while.

Here is what the earrings look like finished. They actually came out better than expected. When worn, the pearls cluster in the middle—so pretty.  I have been working on pearl jewelry for the last two days, so you will definitely see more pearl jewelry soon.

Freshwater Pearl Earrings measure approximately 1 ½ inches from the ear wire. These earrings can be purchased at the EZRA Spring 2012 jewelry party on Saturday, March, 24th.

Oh, and a little shout-out to Amy. Any time she sees any cute jewelry findings she always picks some up for me! She is such a sweetheart! Gracias!

Week 6: Cecily Earrings

This week’s color focus is yellow: “yellow symbolizes the divine nature of Jesus, glory, faith of the saints, and anointing oil” (www.preciousstonesof thebible.com). Glory is standing out to me this morning. One definition of glory, according to Marriam-Webster (2011), is “worshipful praise, honor, and thanksgiving <giving glory to God>” (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/glory). Glory is mentioned several times in the Bible and it was hard for me to choose one verse. I decided on Psalm 71:8:

“Let my mouth be filled with your praise and with your glory all the day” (NKJ).

I like that the color yellow symbolizes glory. Think about some things that are yellow that reminds you of God’s glory. For instance, I praise God when I see beautiful yellow sunrises and the sun’s shining yellow rays breaking through a cloudy day. These earrings kind of remind me off a sunrise—in an abstract way. Nevertheless, the soft glow of these yellow earrings will remind me of God’s glory.

Cecily Earrings: Honey Opal and Glass – measuring approximately 1 ¾ inches in length and 1 ½ inches in width.

Week 4: Adalya Amethyst Earrings

Sorry for the delay…It has been a busy week. This week’s color focus is purple: “purple symbolizes kingship, majesty, royalty and reigning with Christ in heavenly places” (www.preciousstonesof thebible.com). Natural stones in various colors are used throughout the Bible for decorative purposes. Specifically, amethyst is mentioned in Exodus 28:19 and 39:12 as being a part of the design of the breastpiece. It is also mentioned in Revelation 21:20 as a part of the decoration of the city walls of the New Jerusalem. What a beautiful place heaven will be! Week after week, I am reminded to reflect on God’s Word through the little things that are all around us, be it a piece of jewelry or a beautiful color in nature.

When I picked the color this week, I was not sure what I was going to create. I know I had this beautiful amethyst that I wanted to use. I said a little prayer for direction and started designing. Each component of these earrings is handcrafted from the jump rings to the ear wires. I give God all the credit for the design. These earrings measure approximately 3 inches. Each amethyst measures approximately 1 ¼ inch. One available.

Gili Quartz Crystal Earrings

Quartz crystal briolette beads are elegantly wrapped with wire and suspended from simple French ear wires. These earrings measure approximately 3 inches from the ear wire.

According to Precious Stones of the Bible (http://preciousstonesofthebible.com/colorsymbolism.html), crystal is referenced in Job 28:17, Isaiah 54:12, and Revelation 4:6, 21:11 and 22:1. Revelation 21:11 stood out to me, “having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal” (NKJV). I like this verse because it speaks of light being like a “precious stone.” This light is referring to the New Jerusalem, but it makes me think about God’s light in us and how we need to let it shine (sound familiar?). This verse does not say quartz crystal, but mentions the color, which solidifies my reasoning for focusing more on colors for my Stones of the Bible jewelry making endeavor. These earrings can be a reminder to let God’s light shine through you!

One available but can make more upon request.
