Sol Earrings are handcrafted with antique brass-plated steel findings and dichroic glass beads. “Dichroic glass has a thin metal film vaporized onto its surface which causes the glass to transmit one color and reflect another” (firemountiangems.com). It has been a while! I have not forgotten—I have just been a little distracted. Now, on to the next color…brown: “brown symbolizes earthen vessels and humility” (www.preciousstonesof thebible.com). I have been avoiding this color and I don’t know why because I have a lot of gorgeous brown beads. I have been thinking about this Bible blog post for a while and knew that I still had more to post (two left after this one), but this time I knew exactly what beads I was going to use. I prayed about a design and these earrings are the result. I love that brown symbolizes humility. I don’t know about you, but humility… humbleness… is something that I could use more of. I found this Bible verse on humility:
Proverbs 15:33 “The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom, and before honor comes humility (NASB).”
Honor comes after humility. To me, this means in order to be your best, you need to be humble. God’s Word instructs us to love each other. Ephesians 4:2 “with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love” (NASB). This is often hard to do, especially if someone rubs you the wrong way. I must make it a priority to be humble even when I don’t feel like it. I have made plenty of mistakes; however, focusing on God’s Word and taking one day at a time helps me. I am thankful that I can depend on His strength and not my own.
Paz is Spanish for “peace” (babynames.com). I thought that this was an appropriate name for these earrings since they symbolize humility. The earrings measure just shy of 3” in total length.
“Everything that is new or uncommon raises a pleasure in the imagination, because it fills the soul with an agreeable surprise, gratifies its curiosity, and gives it an idea of which it was not before possessed.” Joseph Addison This so … Continue reading →
Bev & I had fun today being creative with jewelry making and our time. She picked out beads for the trapeze earrings while I worked on special orders. We are team working in order to get ready for the jewelry party. I just finished putting the trapeze earrings together and here they are:
These two necklaces are interesting and delicate and a great way to add a touch of whimsy to an outfit. These necklaces invoke a sense of playfulness and curiosity. The ladder necklace makes me think of climbing new heights—never give up and always push forward. The sideways flare necklace reminds to of thinking outside of the box—you won’t get very far stuck inside one, right? Playing around with jewelry designs is fun and exhilarating especially when the results are unexpectedly beautiful. I usually have a general idea of how I want to design a piece, but as I start creating, the pieces normally evolve into something else. I don’t think these pictures do these necklaces any justice; however, I still wanted to share…Enjoy.
